Kenyan tribes tribe tribe – Kikuyu, Luo, Kalenjin happens to be the mother of tribalism in Kenya and if we are not careful it will add other children Kamba, Luhya etc. We Kenyans have to guard against this. We should be proud of our heritage and culture but leave it there.
When the census comes knocking can we all be KENYANS. I have seen diverse people who speak fluent Kamba, Luo, Kikuyu etc and to me it should be a language, that’s it. Lets not be divided? Do you think we should fill in our tribe slot when the census people come to count us?

Eat The Frog Group

Well last Saturday I met with some Kenyans who had wanted to meet my brother who was supposed to visit from the UK. That lunch took place at the Carnivore restaurant Nairobi. Ten of us met, three couldn’t make it. I shared the start of a way of life, a commitment to plan & live to the maximum, to work with a common vision, to stay connected for the good of the self, the family, the community and the country.

I enjoyed the lunch so much and meeting these 10 fellow Kenyans for the first time together and not knowing where we all came from, how we think, where we are heading. We were able to share together beyond our tribe, sex, status which was a blessing. We chose the title ” Eat the frog ” for our group

I wonder how the others felt?? I look forward to the next meeting where we assess the progress and increase the number of participants. One step at a time and we shall attain success. Keep checking this blog for the next meeting.

Why?

The other day while watching the news my heart was disheartened by the news article of the little girl who was chopped and her maid.
One person can be insane but when three collectively gang up to commit such an atrocity on an innocent soul, I find it way beyond insanity. My only peace is in believing that the little angel is at a better place.

My prayer goes to the little girl’s parents and relatives. This is just too painful for them to bear, to accept and move from.

I do not know what drives someone to such insanity. Could it have been drugs, hatred, greed, jealousy? What would surely justify such an act?

HIV Test

On 4th June I shared in my facebook that I was going for a HIV test. What I didn’t expect was the barrage of comments both negative and positive that I received.

One thing about the internet is the freedom people have to speak their minds. One interesting point that I want to bring up was the point that my post was irrelevant. But considering it solicited over 40 responses then I think my post was definitely not irrelevant but very pertinent to the reality of life today in Kenya.

Let no man or woman feel that HIV is something to be swept under the carpet. I wish we had more leaders and other Kenyans coming up to show their status as this would make sure they become more responsible in their efforts to guard their status. This would also create an awareness.

Things That Drive Me Nuts!

Men pissing on the fences

Men pinching & rubbing their privates in public

Women who squat in toilets and leave messy seats and piss all over the floor

Public toilets with no handbag holders

The best public and resident toilet in Nairobi is situated at the Fairview Hotel. Kudos for that

Adults jumping queues in traffic, do they think the rest of us are parked?

Lack of courtesy on the road we don’t need the police or traffic lights. We need courtesy!

What are the things that drive you nuts?
