The Beginning Of My Political Journey

In 2007 I was carried into the Orange Democratic Movement ODM  frenzy that swept the country. After running successful businesses, I ventured into politics thinking that as a politician I would influence changes  that affect our lives as Kenyans.

But I soon found out that politics in Kenya is run as an ‘old boys’ club that only wants a certain type of leader around them. Obviously, I wasn’t one of them not just in gender but also in approach as I don't tow the line. There was a concerted effort to rig me out of all the Kenya elections from the mayoral elections to the Embakasi constituency.

In hindsight maybe a blessing in disguise! Though these two attempts cost me plenty in terms of finances and emotions, I don't regret it because it made me more determined to think out of the box and realize that i don't need the validation of these political posts to help Kenyans or reach out to work with fellow Kenyans for the good of our country.
